Symbol of the “gentle and ecological mobility” of our early twenties, the electric scooter has established itself on the streets of our home with incredible speed. The advantages both in economic terms, in terms of practicality, and sustainability, are really many. As a result, many Italians were able to seize the great advantages that this “throttle” (so the Highway Code calls this two-wheeled vehicle) can give on the medium/ short distances of the cities. A great boost to its adoption has certainly been given by the Mobility Bonus, issued last year in times of Covid-19, and that in all likelihood will return again this year. If for some years scooters had made their debut, thanks to the spread of private rental fleets, with the pandemic many have chosen them as an alternative to public transport. Light and easy to carry, the electric scooter has finally been “legalized” by the Highway Code, thanks to the law n.8 of 28/02/20, which converted the decree law “Milleproroghe”, equating it to velocipede (bicycles).
Soft mobility is a revolution that is changing the face of urban centers, but it should be remembered that electric scooters, although they seem to be means of transport apparently “easy”, require appropriate recommendations for safe driving and precise rules for driving on urban roads.
But in order for the electric scooter to become a more comfortable, practical, and functional travel experience, we recommend equipping it with a series of “optional” accessories really useful, and in some cases also “life-saving”, that riders can buy separately.
The 10 essential accessories for your electric scooter
As it happens for every new means of transport, also for scooters a world of products and accessories connected to them is born, either for aesthetic customization, for the improvement of the levels of safety and/ or performance, or to add extra features of various types. Let’s see them together, starting from the essential accessories and/ or mandatory by law.
Accessories Must for Safety: Helmet and Reflective Jacket
As a must for minors, the helmet should always be worn by all drivers of electric scooters. It is important that it is CE certified “EN 1078”, to have adequate protection. On the market, there are excellent helmets at fairly low prices (from 30€ and up). We prefer those models with good ventilation, easily adjustable to fit perfectly to the garment, and with a look not only aesthetically pleasing but able to “be noticed” in traffic thanks to reflective lights or LEDs.
The reflective jacket is mandatory if you are traveling in poor visibility. As well as the suspenders or the high visibility reflective bibs, it is an economical solution to signal your presence and thus avoid unpleasant inconveniences. If you want, even the mandatory vest kept in the car for emergencies, can do for your scooter ride!
